A year later he settled in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/?p=2288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Port Royal<\/a>. &nbsp;&#8220;The Bar&#8221; is what it is sometimes referred to locally, as it is on a peninsula.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu3911.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2355\" alt=\"Cape Forchu lighthouse\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu3911.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu_3841.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2360\" alt=\"CapeForchu_3841\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu_3841-1024x576.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu3532.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2351\" alt=\"CapeForchu3532\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitingnovascotia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/CapeForchu3532-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shipwrecks were common along the shoreline here and it was recommended by Colonel Robert Morse in 1874 that a chain of lighthouses should be built along the shores of Nova Scotia hence the construction of the Cape Forchu Lighthouse&nbsp;in 1840.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Forchu Lightstation&nbsp;was replaced in 1962 with the current &#8220;apple core&#8221; &#8211; a concrete tower.<\/p>\n<p>At Cape Forchu there is an outcrop of the ancient supercontinent&nbsp;<a title=\"Gondwana\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gondwana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gondwana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Click the photo below to view a <strong>360\u02d9 panoramic<\/strong> view at Cape Forchu.
